Early Childhood
Ronald Reagan was born in Tampco, Illinois on February 6, 1911. As a child, people called him "Dutch." The Reagan family moved a lot over his early years. His family was quite poor. "Dutch" struggled to make lasting friendships due to moving around so much. He did enjoy reading books and wanted to own his own shoe department. Reagan went to high school in Dixon and is where his family settled down. While in high school he became one of the most popular kids in the school and was elected President of the Student Body.
College Life
"Dutch" attended the Disciples of Christ Eureka College. There he was focused on sports more than anything else. He participated in swimming, football, track, and was on the basketball cheerleading squad. He also acted in many of the college's plays.
